Post One piece solid copper mallet......in progress

Here are some pics if a one piece copper mallet I have in progress. This is my first shot at a one piece, hand milled design. So far so good. Finish weight is going to be 375g. I'll add more pics in the weeks to follow as things take shape.

First thing was to mill the rough shape of the putter and neck.

Next was turning the neck on the lathe.

Here is how it sits right now. Next trip to the shop I will finish the milling of the head. I will be starting another putter as well.

Thanks for the kind words guys. This has been a fun and challenging project. I can't wait to see it all finished.

Due to my travel schedule I haven't had the time in the shop like I hoping to have this year. I'm hoping to get allot more done before spring.

Yeah, no leaning on that putter while waiting for the rest of your foursome to finish up!

The neck was the biggest concern. I'll be using an over hosel shaft (.400 vs .370) which allowed me to make it a little beefier.

Charlie,

That neck will still be like a virgin in a "jail house". I know even with the older PING copper putters you could bend the necks with your hands. I'm anxious to see how this works out.

Here are some updated pics. Shaping is complete, all I have to do is put it back on the mill to remove some weight. Getting there slow but sure.

That top view looks kinda familiar too.
